Livermore Falls State Forest contains a stunning combination of natural beauty and the legacy of human ingenuity. At the center of the forest, a breath-taking waterfall gorge on the Pemigewasset River is the backdrop for a rare “pumpkinseed” lenticular truss bridge and an abandoned pulp mill, as well as archaeological evidence of pre-contact use.

Space Haus received a contract to create 8 outdoor interpretive panels for this 180-acre site managed by the State of New Hampshire. Intensive background research involved site visits, meetings with Department of Natural & Cultural Resources (DNCR) staff, a visit to the State archeology lab, listening to oral histories from former residents, reading contemporary news reports and maps, and researching local geology and biology.

The final panels combine the State’s graphic standards with fresh and clean layouts and informative text. Our “Plain Language” content is audience centered, concise, and conversational. Custom illustrations and callouts engage visitors to think like an archaeologist, play bridge detective, track animal prints, and connect to their own childhood.
