  • Built in 1927 just before the Great Depression, Hilton Chicago has witnessed, hosted or been the backdrop for key moments of the last century. However, the previous history display didn’t do justice to this building once billed the “world’s largest hotel,” so Hilton contracted with Space Haus to redesign it.

The new exhibit occupies portions of the grand marble lobby on Michigan Avenue. It highlights the great moments that took place there, the famous people who visited, and the innovations that set it apart from other hotels.

As the exhibit designers, we created the written content, selected images and artifacts and designed the graphic panels and multimedia portion. The team also provided the construction drawings and oversaw exhibit assembly and installation.

The exhibit quickly became one of the key attractions within the hotel. In an unexpected development, it also became a key component of staff training due to its clear and comprehensive content.
