Acuario Mazatlan: Concept Study

  • Location: Mazatlan, Mexico

    Client: EHDD Architects

  • In collaboration with EHDD architecture, Space Haus developed the primary narrative, exhibit themes and preliminary animal exhibits for a new aquarium within a redevelopment area of Mazatlan known as the Malecón-Central Park District. This new aquarium would focus on the Sea of Cortez and take visitors on a journey from sea to land via the open ocean, coastal shores, shallow waters and forests of the region. Highlights of the aquarium included a sea turtle exhibit for rescued and rehabilitated turtles, an ambitious live mangrove display and a tunnel intersecting a 700,000-gallon shark tank.
