Working with the Facilities Staff at Lurie Children’s Hospital, Space Haus developed a Master Plan for the public areas on the hospital’s ground and second floors that would make the spaces more welcoming and user-friendly. Over the course of 9 months, we met with hospital staff and management, as well as a group of patients, to understand the needs of the patients and their families. The final master plan document proposes amendments and additions to both the interior and exterior of the hospital. These included wayfinding elements, new finishes and furniture, exterior plantings and rain gardens. Recommendations from the master plan are being incorporated, beginning with new furniture and floor finishes in the main floor lobby.
